Palio di Siena (August)

About This Event

The second of Siena's two legendary medieval horse races, held on August 16 in honour of the Assumption of the Virgin, seeing ten of the city's contrade compete bareback around the shell-shaped Piazza del Campo in a centuries-old tradition.
