About This Event

Venice's ancient Ascension Day ceremony of the Marriage of the Sea, held since the year 1000, where the Mayor of Venice aboard the historic Bucintoro vessel performs the ritual casting of a golden ring into the Adriatic to symbolise Venice's dominion over the sea.
