Braga transforms into the ancient Roman city of Bracara Augusta for five days, with over 2,000 actors, gladiators, legionnaires, vestal virgins and merchants bringing the 1st-century capital of the Roman province of Gallaecia back to life. Roman games, chariot races, theatrical performances, authentic period banquets and a reconstructed Roman market in the historic centre create one of Europe's most ambitious historical re-enactments.
