Festival da Sardinha – Praia do Pedrógão

Portugal's greatest tribute to the humble sardine, held over two weekends on the beach at Praia do Pedrógão in Leiria, midway between Lisbon and Porto. Around five tonnes of sardines are grilled and consumed across the four event days, accompanied by huge outdoor music stages, artisan craft fairs, seafood cooking competitions and a vibrant beachside atmosphere. A true celebration of Portugal's most iconic food culture.
