Semana do Mar – Horta, Azores

A week-long festival celebrating the sea, maritime heritage and Azorean island culture in the port city of Horta on Faial Island — famous as a crossroads for Atlantic sailors. Events include traditional boat races, regatta competitions, live concerts, folkloric performances, seafood gastronomy, whale-watching excursions and exhibitions on Azorean whaling history. The Peter Café Sport bar — legendary among transatlantic sailors — is at the festival's heart.
